Roboform - Store Your Online Passwords Safely and Securely

1 June, 2007 (23:25) | Useful Resources | By: Steve

Roboform is a password manager that you can install on your computer, and use to store passwords that you have to enter to access some sites online, and then use it to autofill forms when you need access.

The ability to protect all your passwords, or passcards as Roboform calls them, by using a master password means that you can store all your passwords, while only having to remember one in order to use them.

You can also set Roboform to install a toolbar in your internet browser (both IE and Firefox) which contains useful shortcut buttons for all the useful features of the program. The rest of the time, it hides in your System Tray, where you can easily access and use your passcards.

The way Roboform works, is that every time you enter log in details for a site online, the program asks you if you want to save the details you have entered. If you choose to save the details, it creates a ‘passcard’ in its database, and associates it with the URL where you entered the information.

Then, the next time you visit that exact URL, Roboform checks its database to see if you have any details stored. If you do, you can simply click on the passcard button to fill in and submit the log in form details.

Roboform is a great tool that you should really consider if you do a lot of browsing on the web that involves logging in to lots of sites regularly. If you want to give it a try, you can even download a free version of the software, that allows you to store up to 10 passcards. For more information, visit the Roboform website.
