Screencasting … What’s It All About?
One of the major parts of my job, is to create screencasts. Many of you will undoubtedly have no idea what a screencast is, let alone have ever seen one.
By definition, a screencast is a video recording of a computer screen, often combined with voice over to create a full multimedia presentation of on-screen activity, which can be used as a training resource.
Imagine the future of software training - there’s no more paper-based manuals, there’s no more expensive one-to-one or group training sessions, and there’s a massive reduction in the requirement for over-the-phone technical support. Instead, there’s a whole library of screencasts, covering the basic use of software applications, solutions to all manner of problems … and the best thing, you can see someone perform the task you’re struggling to complete right in front of your very eyes.
So that’s where I come in. Over the past year I’ve created no end of screencasts, on a whole range of software applications and uploaded them to our site ScreencastCentral. I’ll come onto the site, and explain a little bit more about it in a later post.
In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning more about screencasting, head on over - I recommend you start with our screencast, ‘What is a Screencast‘
